Aging is one of the biggest risk factors for some of the most prevalent
diseases, such as neurodegenerative diseases. In 2018, the
CIEN Foundation and the Queen Sofia Foundation have signed an
agreement to extend the duration of the Vallecas Project. This
longitudinal study that seeks to detect early Alzheimer's disease has a
horizon of ten years, compared to the five initially planned. During the
year, the fifth, sixth and seventh follow-up visits of the volunteers
participating in the study have been carried out simultaneously.
